The Cloud House in Bondi was built by Robert Plumb Build and designed by architectural studio Akin Atelier. The simple design of the two-storey residence belies the intricate craftmanship and structural detail that is present within this project.
From street level, the white cube-like form of Cloud House gives very little away to the expectant observer. But by looking closer, one first notices the rendered first floor box that overhangs the ground floor structure facilitating the creation of a void that defines the property’s entry point. With a desire for privacy, rosewood screening has been artfully fitted to the façade over the singular window, adding warmth and texture to the neutral palette. The slatted formation allows light to enter the interior while obscuring visibility from the outside.
New Guinea rosewood is a prominent feature of the four-bedroom timber-framed house. The fence, the custom-built rivacy screens featured on the facade and the outdoor decks have all been crafted from sustainably sourced New Guinean rosewood timber of the highest quality.

Timber treatments continue inside with tallowwood floors and cabinets, while a painted white wall of recycled bricks provides a focal point in the spacious living room. This home really is the perfect example of coastal indoor / outdoor living in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

A sense of openness is prominent throughout the home, where interior spaces look onto one another and out to the courtyard. This spacious feeling is heightened by the use of Vitrocsa windows and large skylights that maximise the use of natural light throughout the Cloud House.
