Jeremy of JD.Lee Furniture.

JD. Lee Furniture has been up and running for two years and to celebrate the milestone they’ve released some new statement pieces. Lovingly and carefully handcrafted in their Byron Bay workshop, the furniture materialises with a ‘made to last’ aesthetic arising from their traditional craftsman approach. Furniture maker Jeremy Lee focuses on a holistic approach with his products. “Quality has no substitute, throwaway culture deserves disposal and time-honoured skills are worthy of recognition.” JD. Lee only sources sustainable materials, products are built to last so that in buying less, waste is less, and production efficiency is maximised so cut-offs are minimised. The philosophy of ‘keeping it simple’ is a logic used daily.

The new products added to the collection include the Ari Dining Table, Dali Bookshelf and Sunday Bed. Product development is a continual process. “I’m always thinking and sketching, and then it’s fitting in development around production,” says Jeremy. The finished pieces all showcase their own timber finish in a simplistic crafted design. Local Sydney stockist The Plant Room propositioned JD. Lee to design and build the Dali shelves. Drawing on Japanese influences, the humble design sits well in any space whether used as a shelving unit or a wall divider. Available in two sizes, the American Walnut timber creates a softness and warmth.

The Ari Table came about when Jeremy realised the need for a smaller table in his collection to meet client demands. The round design, with solid frame, details the intricate joinery and craftsmanship. Made from American Oak this understated table suits a modern, effortless space. The Sunday Bed was designed with Jeremy top of mind. “I really want a bed like this one day – when I have more space.” Made from American Walnut, the headboard with its variation and knots is a striking feature as part of the strong, bold design.

JD. Lee offers a superb range of furniture, homewares and lighting to the market. All designed and made from the highest quality sustainable timbers the finished products resonate a strength and beauty. Whether it’s a light or a chair it will trigger an emotion, and it is certainly a piece to hold onto for the long haul. JD. Lee Furniture also produces bespoke and customised furniture for many clients and Jeremy relishes the design freedom associated with that. “I really couldn’t be happier doing what I do. It’s a lot of hard work, but when it’s what you’re passionate about the drive comes easily.” From what we can see the results are clearly shining through.
