About
Inner West Council Libraries will host the Inner West Built Environment Awards: Heritage and Sustainability.
The Marrickville Medal for Conservation celebrates built conservation works that contribute to the understanding and preservation of Marrickville’s cultural and architectural heritage. Since 2016, the Sustainable Building Award has also recognised the contribution that sustainable architecture has made to the community.
Heidi Pronk and Neil Mackenzie will discuss their Marrickville Medal-winning project ‘Ellerslie’, the partners’ own house in Marrickville overlooking the Cooks River. Mackenzie Pronk is a collaborative and energetic studio producing high-quality sustainable design, crafting unique, appropriate and cost-effective architecture. They are fuelled on by a desire for a better world.
Christian Grennan, director of Kreis Grennan Architecture will speak about his Brick Aperture House in Petersham, a shortlisted finalist for the Sustainable Building Award. Christian was born into a family of makers and educated as an architect, philosopher, builder, wood and metal worker. He takes great pleasure in learning from all those around him and crafting spaces for people to enjoy.
Curated and introduced by local architects Sam Rigoli, Michael Zanardo and Casey Bryant, the Architecture on Show talks are presented by Inner West Council in association with the Australian Institute of Architects.
