EmAGN Value Speaker Series No.1

The Emerging Architects and Graduates Network (EmAGN) will host their next installment in the VALUE Speaker Series for 2018! The social forum will invite local architects, Dirk Yates of Speculative Architecture and Leah Gallagher of Kin Architects, Kin Architects to discuss how values inform their practice.

Hosted in the IMA Courtyard on Berwick St (just around the corner from the Judith Wright Centre entry at 420 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley)

EmAGN is supported by and a part of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Date and time: Wed. 22 August 2018, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEST. Drinks will begin from 6pm, with the talks kicking off at 6.30pm.

About the speakers:

Dirk recently established his practice Speculative Architecture, intrigued in the disciplines of architecture and creative arts. Dirk’s recent work Corps à Corps at the IMA Courtyard (with artist Celine Condorello and landscape designer Pete Sheilds) won the Australian Insitute of Architecture ‘Art and Architecture Award’ at the 2018 Qld State Awards. Dirk will present a unique perspective on practice and his experience as a recipient of the 2018 Dulux Study Tour.

Leah graduated from UQ in 2012 and after spending 7 years working alongside the director at an award-winning Brisbane practice she set out to start her own firm KIN Architects with business partner Marjorie Dixon. Leah is passionate about Brisbane architecture and public space and is a current Councillor of the Australian Insitute of Architects Queensland Chapter. Leah will be sharing stories of her practice KIN and her recent travels on the 2018 Dulux Study Tour.

Based in Brisbane and representing Queensland, they organize diverse events that expose the rich mix of social, political, cultural and possibly controversial topics in Queensland’s design scene.
